An Understanding of Halobacterium in the Great Salt Lake
There is life that us humans cannot see with our naked eye. In the Great Salt Lake there is an ancient microorganism called Halobacterium that gives water a pink hue. It is a salt loving bacteria that can only survive in environments with a high concentration of salt.
Breaking down the halobacterium, it is salt, oxygen and DNA. The DNA acts like a vehicle that can spread a beautiful pink hue wherever there is salt and oxygen in a natural body of water. This physical artifact is an understanding of how the ancient halobacterium has survived through binary fission, salt, and oxygen.
The wire represents the bacteria’s DNA and how it is the container of salt and oxygen. As the bacteria multiplies itself, it contains more salt allowing it to continue to reproduce and survive.
